This is a basic guide to the various types of evolution cards available in the game, their rulings and how to summon them. This seems necessary considering the large number of new evolution card types released in Divine Evolution Saga. All creatures that evolve have the type 'Evolution Creature' regardless of the type of evolution used to summon them. Also, all evolution creatures regardless of type do not have summoning sickness.
There are as total of 323 evolution creatures in the game as of set 35 format.
Evolution: (Vanilla)
This is the most basic form, and the most common. Any one creature satisfying the requirement of the Evolution must be present on the field to be used as bait. Even if the Evolution is being played via an indirect summoning technique like with 'Sanctuary of the Mother', a bait must be present to evolve onto. All types of Evolution creatures can also be used as baits for other Evolution creatures. The original stack must remain intact and the Evo is simply placed on top.
Vortex Evolution:
These require two creatures (Evo or non-Evo) satisfying the requirement to be used as bait for summoning the Vortex. The baits are stacked on top of each other in any order and the Evolution is placed on top. If the top card leaves the battle-zone by the effect of Royal Durian or similar cards, the baits are separated and individually placed on the field. Any on-summon effects of the baits are not activated in this case.
Vortex GV Evolution:
Same as Vortex Evolution, but a total of three creatures satisfying the requirement must be used as baits. Generally cards with this ability come with the 'Phoenix' race and 'Meteorburn' ability.
Hand Evolution:
To summon these, a appropriate bait (evolution or non-evolution creature) satisfying the requirement must be available in hand. Hand Evolution cards cannot be summoned like a normal evolution creature. Simply pay the cost of the Evolution Creature, and place the bait in the field with the Evolution on top. Note that the bait is not technically summoned, so it's cost must not be paid, and it's on-summon effects do not activate. This effect is currently exclusive to the Water Civilization.
Hand Vortex Evolution:
A special type of hand evolution specific to Crystal Phalanx, the Super-Electric Nova. Two creatures satisfying the requirement must be used as baits from hand so summon this type of creature.
Mana Evolution:
Similar to hand evolution, but a correct bait must be available in the mana-zone of play these. The bait is placed in the battle-zone from mana and the Mana Evo is placed on top. All rulings are similar to that of Hand Evolution. Most of these are Nature Civilization cards.
Mana Vortex Evolution:
A type of Mana Evolution where two baits must be chosen from the Mana Zone to play the Evolution.
Mana Galaxy Vortex Evolution:
Same as Mana Vortex but three baits must be chosen from the Mana Zone.
Grave Evolution:
Same as Mana and Hand Evolution except the source is the graveyard. This effect is exclusive to the Darkness Civilization.
Deck Evolution:
The top card of your deck is revealed. If it's a creature, the Deck Evolution card is summoned with the revealed creature as bait. If the revealed card is not a creature, it stays on top of the deck and the Deck Evo remains in hand. The Mana cost is not refunded however. This effect is exclusive to the Fire Civilization.
Mad Deck Evolution:
A variant of Deck Evolution exclusive to 'Mad Romanoff'. The top three cards of deck are chosed instead of one, and one creature from them is chosen as bait. If none of them are creatures, they all go to grave.
Ultimate Evolution:
These are 'Evolutions of Evolutions', as they can only be evolved on cards with type 'Evolution Creature'. The type of evolution is irrelevant. Most of these belong to the 'Lunatic Emperor' race.
Ultimate Evolution MAX:
A step up from Ultimate Evolution creatures, these can only be evolved on cards with the ability 'Ultimate Evolution'. There are only three of these in the game, all of them with 'Luna's Sun Geyser' Race.
Super Infinite Evolution:
These are the exact same as a regular vanilla evolution, except you have the option to use more than one bait. Technically you can use any number of creatures in the battle-zone as bait, as long as they satisfy the requirement. However, the minimum number of baits required to summon these is just one, the rest are optional.
Super Infinite Graveyard Evolution:
A variant to Grave Evolution specific to 'Rock Romanoff'. Choose any number of creatures from the graveyard as bait.
